Bandits Kill One Abduct 8 In Niger Community
-Demands N17m ransom

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Saturday killed one person and abducted 8 others between Luma and Babana in the Borgu local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident happened when the deceased and others were returning from the installation of the Chairman of the Borgu Kingmakers and Chief priest Bakarabonde an event which took place same day.

It was learnt that the driver of the bus in which those kidnapped was, happened to be the only person killed while a woman in the bus who was covered with the blood pretended to have died making the gunmen to leave her.

It was learnt the kidnappers also burnt the vehicle in which their victims were traveling in.

When contacted the Chairman of the Borgu local government Area, Alhaji Sulaiman Yerima, confirmed the story which he described as “unfortunate” adding that he had informed the Commissioner for Local Government who will pass the information to ” All relevant authorities”.

Yerima disclosed that the bandits have made contact with the local government demanding for N17m ransom saying “Where will I get N17m”.

The Council boss advised motorists plying the roads in the local government especially in the night to alert the local vigilantes who will provide them adequate security.
