Gov Bago embarks on aggressive construction of rural roads in Niger.

Bearly one year of Niger state governor Umar Bago in office, over 900 rural roads of over 176 kilometre of roadsĀ  are under construction in all the 25 local government areas of the state as part of his New Niger agenda.

The state Director General of Rural Access Mobility program, (RAMP),Ambassador Nma Ahmed stated this in a chat in MINNA over the weekend, stated that since the creation of Niger state this is first of it’s kind for the government to embark on this aggressive rural development.

D G said the governor Umar Bago’s quest to embark on the massive rural roads is to make the people of remote areas fill the presence of governance not to fill being neglected as it used to be years back.

Nma was optimistic that the coming of governor Bago have no doubt indicates that a messiah have come to rescue Nigerlites out from the maladministration that have been the bane of development in the state.

According to the Director general vertually all the local government areas are now benefiting from various kilometre of roads under construction, which is going to be in phases, said already about 176.43 kilometre of backlog maintenance is in progress.

Nma pointed out that the 176.43 kilometre of roads are spread across over 25 communities someĀ  have two slots in 11 local government areas which includes, Kontagora,Borgu,Kacha Lavun,Bosso, and Wushshi local government areas respectively.

He further explained that rural roads that have higher network and Agricultural productivity impacts are also to be upgraded under the upgrade scheme, adding that a total of 99.24 km rural roads were prioritized for rehabilitation.

“Communities that will benefits from such roads to be upgraded are Gulu-Evunti-Lambata roads,Maikunkele -Jangaru -Gida Mangoro roads and Maitumbi -Pina- Kuta roads in Lapai,Bosso and Shiroro local government areas respectively” Ahmed re-enphasised.

The Director general reinterated the commitment of the Rural Access Mobility program, RAMP to explore more rural roads in the state to ease the transportation and marketing of products and appreciated the staff for their support and cooperation.
