Dualisation of MINNA -Bida  road will ease traffic floor-Ebbo.

The Niger State Government has express commitment towards completion of MINNA – Bida road at stipulated time even as it commend the three contractors for working according to specifications.

The government also recognised the pace of road construction work across the state as the contractors have expedite actions on the several road projects embarked upon in the state to improve the socio economic development of its rural and urban communities.

The Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo on his Facebook page stated that the projects was aimed at ameliorating the plight of the citizens and improved on their daily affairs of livelihood.

He said the government has come up with upgrading of MINNA -Bida road by dualizing the 82 klm Minna-Kataeregi-Bida road so as to ease traffic floor for a smooth drive reducing the rigorous drive of three hours to one hour at the completion..

Part of the  projects which also includes solid construction of some bridges along the road and Minor side cross drainage structures through constant technical supervision and consulting services to  ease social intervention in some communities along the project corridor.

Abdulbaqy further explained that the construction of the  Minna -Bida road project will also includes the pedestrian bridges, toll gates, and construction at Minna and Bida town.

According  to the special adviser the Project is divided in to three lots adding that Projects Development Objective (PDO) is to improve inter-connection of the corridor of road to enhance major economic and social activities of the state.

Other objectives is also to improve on quality on free traffic  floor and increase capacity of road, and linkage to Federal  road movement of goods and services, improve travel time, reduce accident rates, generate revenue and Improve easy access to health facilities and markets for agriculture produce

“it is envisaged that when the project is completed there would be great reduction in travel time, traffic control, and reduction in maintenance cost of vehicles plying the road “.

Special Adviser hinted that before the award of Minna- Kataeregi-Bida Road Project commuters along the route spent average of two and half hours to move from Minna to Bida a distance of 82km but that will soon be a thing of the past as the project get completed.

According to Abdulbaqy to ensure that road is constructed in the time frame the road  is divided into three (3) lots to ease the construction and supervision activities, the lot one from Kpakungu – before Garatu (CH0+000 -CH15+000) was awarded to Messrs DANTATA & Sawoe Construction Company (Nig.) Limited..

While Lot two is from Garatu – Kakapkangi (CH15+000 – CH55+000) 40km was awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited and lot 3 is from Kakapkangi – Bida (CH55+000 – CH82+000) 27km was awarded to Messrs Arab Contractors  O.A.O Nigeria Ltd./ Arab Contractors O.A.O Egypt (JV).

He said each of the lots is financed by the Niger State Government in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development respectively ,express optimism that the three contractors are working assiduously to complete the work without hitches.
