Niger, Gov Bago to phase out wooden boats in reverine areas-Ebbo.

Niger state government is making a concerted efforts to phase out wooden boat used in reverine areas of the state to reduce to the bearest minimum the frequent boat mishap that have claimed numerous lives recently.

It was in this regard  that Niger state government has presented five metal fifty – seater boats to riverine communities in the state.

The Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo on his social media handle disclosed this  after the presentation of the  metal fifty seater boats in Wuya community of Gbako local government area of Niger state.

He explained that the Niger State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) delivered the boats as part of Governor Umaru Bago’s initiative to ensure safer inland water transportation, support agricultural activities, and to enhance the safety of the communities.

Abdullbaqy hinted that the General Manager of CSDA, Aisha Abdulkadir further explained that the communities requested this intervention due to the dangers posed by the wooden boats previously used, which were prone to damage and not durable on water.

According to Ebbo, while the commissioner for transport,Hadiza Kuta was handing over the operational code to local government chairmen, she highlighted the importance of enforcing water travel regulations and warned that violators would be dealt with accordingly.

In their separate  remarks Some of the benefiting communities appreciated governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s foresight aimed at curbing future boat mishap in the state.

It would be recalled that recently over one hundred people from the state died in a  boat mishap at Gbajibo community in Mokwa local government area of the state which prompted government quick intervention to prevent further reoccurrence.
