Re-NLC’s RESPONSE TO LGA/TEACHERS MINIMUM WAGE AKIN TO THE PROPHECY OF THE 3 WITCHES
It appears opposition in Kebbi State is degenerating into child’s play.
The recent press statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the socalled opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sani Dododo, in the State had elicited a lot of controversy. This is primarily because it has resorted into crying more than the bereaved.
In the Statement, Alhaji Sani Dododo highlighted ten points, all of which are baseless. The role the Nigeria Labour Congress played in the recent minimum wage issue cannot be over emphasized, given it primarily assignment as the protector of the Nigerian workers. For the opposition in Kebbi State, we are yet to come to terms with the alleged new role it accuses the Congress of playing in the first point of its highlight.
On the second point, we want to draw the attention of the PDP in Kebbi State that no organization or agency can claim to love worker more than the NLC which shoulders the responsibilities of their welfare. The official response of the Congress in respect Teachers and the Local Government workers in the State is, as emphasized earlier, of crying more than the bereaved.
We are equally amazed at the concerted efforts of the PDP in quoting what it described as “flowery lexicon” in the eulogy of the State Government. Here, does the opposition always expect the Congress to always fight the Government? The hand of the enemy of the State is already seen very clearly. The NLC message showed open clap with two hands, because of it s satisfaction with the government.
Again, the position of the PDP deviated from the main topic of discussion to the issue of pupils in classes and the generation of IGR in the State. The confusion in the opposition camp went on to state how the IGR affects Hospitals and Tertiary Institutions. Where is the articulation of fact and coherence?
We are better off here if the NLC can duly respond to some the unconfirmed allegations from the PDP which are nothing but an effort to heat the polity.
It is on this final note that we advise the opposition PDP to fact check its information before going public. There is no iota of truth in the allegation that the NLC is used by the State Government to either overtly or covertly use workers to campaign for elections.
We are really amazed at these allegations. The hands of the government are clean.
