Three killed,40 houses affected at Sabon-Pegi explosion in Niger.

Three people have been killed at an explosion that occurred early last Sunday at Sabon pegi of mashegu local government area of Niger State.
The latest information made available to Newsmen in MINNA from the Director General of Niger state Emergemcy management agency (NSEMA),Alh Abdullahi Baba Arah, said the incident occurred early in the hours of 26th January 2025, at about 7:30 am.
According to the report,the explosion was caused by a dynamite popularly known as (Nakiya) explosive which was kept in a rented apartment by one Yushehu, a local miner.
The rented apartment,which is located behind the central mosque of Sabon pegi was rented by Yushehu for his workers, even though he is residing at New Bussa the Head quarters of Borgu local government area.
The report added that three lives were lost,which includes one boy, a man, and a woman with several others injured, while over 40 houses were affected, including vehicles.
It was gathered that some injured persons have been receiving treatment at New Bussa General Hospital.
The Director General however said the Nsema desk officers of mashegu and Borgu LGAs, who coordinated the rescued operations, are still at the scene of the incident to under take a comprehensive report on the spot assessment.
