NEW YORK, NY — In what is being hailed as a watershed moment in world football, FIFA has officially announced the full details of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which for the first time will feature 32 of the world’s top football clubs. The newly expanded format will take place across 11 major U.S. cities from June 15 to July 13, 2025, marking a dramatic shift from the tournament’s historical structure.

This new format replaces the long-standing seven-team edition that ran annually from 2005 to 2023, which largely centered around UEFA and CONMEBOL champions. The reimagined tournament now mirrors the traditional FIFA World Cup in scale, creating a truly global showcase for club football.

“We are creating a landmark event in world football,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “This expanded Club World Cup allows fans on every continent to witness their teams compete for a global title. It is a celebration of diversity, competition, and world-class talent.”
