Prof. Baji commits to community service as Sarkin Yaki

Prof. Mohammed Baji, the newly turbaned Sarkin Yaki of Baji and Director of the Institute of Continuing Education and e-Learning (ICEeL) at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBUL), Lapai, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the community and humanity.

In an interview with journalists in his hometown after being conferred with the traditional title of Sarkin Yaki (Mai Yaki) of Baji in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger, Baji promised to uphold the confidence reposed in him.

He emphasised that the title challenged him to step up his responsibility, not just in leading wars, but in the struggle against subjugation, injustice, and lack of welfare for the people.

The Sarkin Yaki also appealed to the community to be united, ensure peace to enhance meaningful development in order to uplift the plight of the community to greater heights.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of IBBUL, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman said the testimony from the people is a testament of the goodwill, dedication, good character and upright ness of Prof Baji, however prayed for his good health to continue his good works to humanity.

The former Vice Chancellor IBBUL, Prof Muhammad Nasir Maturare said that Professor Baji is a valuable staff, very focused, productive, highly reliable, determined, hardworking, morally upright and an excellent human being, hence he worth the title from his community and beyond.

Also, Professor Yunusa Umaru from the Faculty of Education ABU Zaria revealed that the celebrant was his student, mentored him and had never disappointed them in which they are proud of him in ABU for forthright ness who is morally trained and prayed for God guidance in his new responsibility

Similarly, Dr Suleiman Chado Suleiman HOD of Counseling Psychology IBBU Lapai hinted that he was not surprised due to his roles and contributions to the community, described professor Ibrahim Baji as a very hardworking and accommodating individual who carries out assignments and responsibilities with utmost sincerity with fear of God.

Earlier, the Village Head of Baji, Yahaya Umar who bestowed the title of Sarkin Yaki on Professor Mohammed Ibrahim Baji and others stated that he is a special human being down to earth said he is being respected because of his trustworthiness and contributions to the community.

Also, Professor Hadiza Ibrahim Gurusu and Dr Ramatu Haruna both praises the director ICEeL IBBUL Minna describing the celebrant as a team player, humble, upright, simple and a principle person and very disciplined who deserved the title of Sarkin Yaki conferred on him.

The event witnessed the presence of academicians across the country, politicians both local and state levels and people from various communities within the area, traditional rulers among others.
