Gov. Idris condole with Zuru Emirate over banditry attack

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris has paid condolence visits to the people of Zuru Emirate over the recent attacks by bandits at Taduruga village in Zuru Local Government and Kyabu in Danko Wasagu LGA.

Condoling the affected communities on Tuesday in Zuru, the governor expressed sympathy over what he described barbaric act.

“Government is highly disturbed by the attack which resulted in loss of innocent souls. This administration will do everything possible to protect the lives and property of its citizens,” he said.

The governor expressed serious concern over the activities of informants, whom he said, “are people living amongst us but reporting our activities to criminals for their personal interest.

“This administration will not fold its arm and allow this people to continue perpetrating such ugly activities to the detriment of our people and the society at large.

“We shall look into the possibility of amending the existing law to pass death sentence or life imprisonment on convicted informants.”

This, according to him, will serve as a deterrent to others, especially those who have the ambition of becoming informants.

Gov. Idris also admonished the District Heads and Village Heads to be very vigilant and ensure that any strange face “is reported to the appropriate authority for immediate questioning.

“I have made another security giant request for the establishment of a military base in these areas, in addition to request for more security personnel so as to beef up security in the area and adequately protect the lives and property of the citizenry,” he said.

The governor also warned those he described as anti-progress, who devoted their time, writing untrue and unfair stories against the progress recorded by the present government, especially on security and Koko-Dabai-Zuru road to desist from such act or cultivate what they have done.

In his remark, the Emir of Zuru, retired Maj.-Gen. Sani Sami Gomo II, thanked the governor for the visit as well as support to his people, adding that a lot have been done to the people of Zuru emirate.

“I most confess to you that since you assumed office, we have seen so many changes most especially on security aspect and infrastructure” he added.

Also in their separate remarks, the Chief of Danko Wasagu, Abubakar Ibrahim Alaji and Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Suleiman Sani stressed the need for a military base in the border area between Kebbi and Zamfara States.
