NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT ORDERS IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF IBBU LAPAI FOLLOWING SECURITY BREACHES AND LOSS OF LIVES
It is with great concern that the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has directed with immediate effect closure of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, Niger State.
A statement issued by Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG) revealed that this decision comes in light of recent security breaches and unfortunate loss of lives within the University community.
According to the SSG, “the safety and security of all citizens, especially Students, remain a top priority for the Government. We are deeply saddened by the recent incidents and Government is taking proactive measures to address the situation swiftly”.
Alhaji Usman urged the University community to remain vigilant, calm, and cooperate with the authorities during this period of closure, adding that Government is working diligently to restore order, ensure the safety of all citizens and maintain peace within the University community and tha State as a whole.
He assure the public that every effort is being made to investigate the security breaches and bring perpetrators to justice.
The SSG reiterated that Government is resolute in its commitment to upholding law and order, as well as protecting the lives and property of all residents in the State.
