Kebbi Govt. releases over N422m for tertiary students’ registration payment

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has directed the release of N422 million for the payment of registration fees for 6,127 university students of Kebbi State indigenes.

Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, Hon. Commissioner for Higher Education, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu and Gwarzon Daular Usmaniyya) has approved and directed the release of Four Hundred and Twenty Two Million, One Hundred and One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty Five Naira, Thirty Kobo (N422,101,955.30.).

“The amount is for the payment of 2024/2025 Academic Session Registration Fees of 6,127 students of Kebbi State indigene studying at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto and and Federal University Birnin Kebbi,” he said.

The commissioner explained that the sum of N211.626 million was paid to 3,922 students of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, while, N210.475 million was paid to 2,205 students of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University.

He said efforts were in the pipeline to pay the registration fees for 2024/2025 academic session for all Kebbi State indigenes studying in other tertiary institutions across the country.

Abubakar-Tunga assured that the ministry for higher education would continue to be appreciative and thankful to His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris for his support to the ministry to discharge its mandate without any interference.
