A Minna based legal practitioner has petition head of IGP monitoring unit over threat to his life by a police CSO

A Minna based legal practitioner Barrister Abdul-khaliq Abubakar Gimba, has raised an alarm over a threat and intimidation on him by one Chief Superintendent of Police Muhammed Abdulkareem (CSP),

The said senior Police officer who is the unit Commander of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) monitoring unit in Abuja alleged that CSP Muhammed Abdulkareem has called him Threatened to deal with him for evading his client from honoring police investigation.

He stated that there was a court order restraining the Police and any security agencies from arresting his clients one Ahmed Abdullahi and Salisu Usman Muhammed who are under investigation at the IGP Monitoring squad in Abuja.

In a petition forwarded to the head of IGP Monitoring unit, in Abuja and copy obtained by our reporter said Justice Balkisu Gambo Yusuf of Minna High Court 7,has slated the hearing of the Fundamental Right case to Monday the 7th of July, 2025.

According to the petition which was signed by Barrister Celestine Audu obtained by our reporter stated that the case of fundamental already filed restraining the Police and other Security agencies from arresting his clients before Justice Balkisu Gambo Yusuf of Niger State High court number eight came up on Monday,the 7th of July 2025.

Justice Balkisu Gambo Yusuf, according to the legal practitioner,in her ruling ordered that the Police should not for no any reason whatsoever arrest,harass or intimidate his clients until the final determination of the case

” We also want to remind you that the case which we know your office is investigating regarding Ahmed Abdullahi and Salisu Usman Mohammed came up on the 7th day of July,2025.

“which we strongly believe your is aware of but some persons Particularly CSP Mohammed Abdulkareem has decided to play ignorant just distract Barrister Abdul-Khalik Abubakar Gimba from diligently Prosecuting the case”

” We equally want to remind you that an order of the honorable court served on your office to stay all actions regarding this case until the final determination of the fundam right action but CSP Mohammed Abdulkareem has deliberately disobeying the honorable court’s order by sending invitation as regards the said matter” the legal practitioner stated in the petition.

Barrister Gimba Abdul-khalik, claimed that the Police Officer called him on phone after an attempt to arrest his clients, failed he now threatened to deal with him after raining insult on him.

” We were rightly informed also that you boasted in your office that you must deal with Barrister Gimba when he comes to Abuja.

” And if he fails to come,you will get an arrest warrant to pick me up and deal with him all for just doing his job as a legal Practitioner” he alleged.

Already, he pointed out that the senior Police officer was informed that there was a step taken by the family of his clients with the legal Practitioner to settle the issue between Salisu Usman Mohammed and Ahmed Abdullahi in the matter out of court “yet CSP Mohammed Abdulkareem still threatened to with Barrister Gimba Abdul-khalik”

He described the Police Offic
er utterances and unguarded statements as unbecoming of a Police officer which points to the fact he has so personal grudge against Barrister Gimba Gimba Abdul-khalik.

” As a highly decorated very senior Police Officer, your office is fully aware of the legal consequences of disobedience of a valid and subsisting court order, intimidation,threats,intentional insults and abuse of office” he added.

The legal Practitioner then noted that considered it expedient to draw his attention to the legal consequences of the action of CSP Mohammed Abdulkareem, informing him that all necessary and legitimate steps will be in ensuring the protection of the legal practitioner and equally seek redress from Police Service Commission (PSC)

“if this threats, intimidation and intentional insults from CSP Mohammed Abdulkareem persists” he concluded.
