Scores of traders who specializes in the sales of maize, wheat and sorghum within the Maitumbi area of Minna in niger state were over the week defrauded of over N250 000,000 by a faceless Non governmental organisation
Our correspondent report that members of the Non existing NGO do always posed as suppliers of food items and then demanded for money from the traders with the promise to supply them with food items at subsidized rates.
They intermittently direct the traders to deposit money into an account operated by their company which the traders obliged especially in June this year and non of the traders was supplied any grains items.
The traders who were highly infuriated with the development decided to storming the alleged warehouse of the NGO to demand for the goods paid for or a refund of the money deposited in to their account.
Platinum news report that the traders were in total shock when they find out that the warehouse which the fake NGOs claim belongs to them was totally empty resulting in the building being ransacked by the traders.
The Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the story when this reporter reached out to him on phone
He said “NGO” has absconded even as the police is also not aware of the number of traders duped and added that investigation into the case is ongoing and “effort to arrest the perpetrators is being intensified”
