Niger state CJ inaugurate new Magistrate and sharia court judges

The newly appointed Magistrates and Shariah Court Judges in the Service of the Niger State Judiciary have been charged to remain steadfast and resolute in order to remain afloat in the discharge of their duty.
The Chief Judge of Niger State Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik who gave the charge at the inauguration of ten Magistrates and Shariah Court Judges at the Judiciary headquarters in Minna Monday warned that they should refrain from all sorts of temptations.
She Stated that the newly appointed Judiciary officers are coming at a time when the institution is under going transformation into a result oriented technology driven and accountable Institution with a comprehensive programme for continuos training..
According to the Chief Judge,in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities of their office, ” you will be confronted with variety of temptations either from relations, court staff,advocates and politicians who may attempt to offer some inducement to influence your decision, or sway the course of Justice”.
She appealed to them to remain steadfast and rebuff them so as to be focus and afloat.
This appointment confers on you according to the Chief Judge grave responsility “you are God’s vicegerents on earth because you decide the date of others. You are Public figures and epitomes of Justice.
” You are bound strickly by the code of conduct for Judicial officers and courts employee.You must never be found wanting. In other words your conduct, comportment and disposition must be in consonance with the code of Judicial ethics” she asserted.
She admonished them to deliver justice with integrity, impartiality and urgency stressing that their appointment should be seen as part of renewed dedication to upholding the sanctity of the rule of law,.
Reminding the new Judicial officers that justice must be prompt fair,and equitable for all citizens adding that their new positions demand unwavering diligence,wisdom,and adherence to the principles of justice.
” As you preside over the courts of first instance,it is to you people will turn to when they feel aggrieved or when they perceive that their rights are trampled upon.
” In that wise, you must be the stewards of justice and conscience by protecting the most vulnerable because the society looks up to you for the assurance that the law works for all” Justice Halima Ibrahim declared.
The Chief Judge further reminded the new employees that the law is not a respected of any body no matter the position, noting that every one is equal before the law.
” You must be blind to bias in the discharge of your Functions of your office in a manner that restores public trust and people’s faith in the Judiciary. As you are aware, Public trust in the Judiciary hinges upon your ability to uphold the highest ethical standards” she added.
Speaking earlier,the Secretary, Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NSJC) Barrister Hauwa Kulu Isah while congratulating the newly appointed Judicial officers she urged them to dispense justice speedy without any delay.
She disclosed that their inauguration was part of a broader reform agenda by the Niger State Judicial Service Commission aimed at revitalizing the Niger State Judiciary.
“As part of this initiative,the Commission recently recruited 100 new Judicial staff comprising Legal research assistants, programm analysists, Magistrates, Shariah Court Judges among others” she stated.
A total of ten Magistrates and ten Shariah Court Judges were administered their oath of office by the Chief Judge of Niger State.
