Etsu Nupe expresses grief over Emir of Zuru’s death
Death

By Mohammed Baba Busu

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has expressed grief over the death of the Emir of Zuru, Retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani-Sami.

In a condolence message issued in Bida on Friday, Abubakar described the death of his colleague as a great loss not only to his family, Zuru emirate and Kebbi State, but to Nigeria as a whole.

The Etsu Nupe, who was on his way to Zuru for the burial of the late emir, described the deceased as a respected traditional ruler who dedicated his reign to the unity, peace and development of his people.

The royal father, who is also the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, said the emir’s death was not only a loss to Kebbi State but also to the entire traditional institution in Nigeria.

According to him, Sami lived an exemplary life of service, discipline and humility, which earned him the love and respect of his subjects and fellow traditional rulers.

The Etsu Nupe said that the late emir was a great patriot and philanthropist whose long reign led to colossal development in the Zuru emirate.

He said the late traditional ruler was also a highly detrabalised Nigerian whose wise counsel had bolstered peace and unity of Kebbi state and the country in general.

According to him, the death of the late emir has created a wide vacuum that will be too difficult to fill.

Abubakar prayed to Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and give the Zuru emirate, Kebbi State Government and the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.

He also urged the people of the emirate to sustain the legacies of peace, tolerance and communal harmony which the late emir promoted during his lifetime.(NAN)
