Petition for Review of District Creation and Appointments in Kagara Emirate

By Our Correspondent

A significant development has taken place in the Kagara Emirate of Niger State, as a formal petition has been submitted to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Umar Mohammed Bago.

The petitioners are calling for the suspension and independent review of recent district creations and the appointments of District Heads within the Kagara Emirate.

The petition was made available to newsmen in Minna by M. D. Isah, Principal Partner, on behalf of concerned clients, including prominent local leaders such as Umar Hassan Idris, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Alhaji Ashafa Jibo Garba.

The petition has been signed by several kingmakers from three districts (Tegina, Kusherki, and Kongoma) who have expressed deep concerns regarding the ongoing restructuring processes in the Kagara Emirate by the Emir. They have highlighted potential issues related to legality, due process, and constitutional integrity.

The petitioners emphasize the necessity for fairness and adherence to the rule of law in the creation of districts and the appointment of District Heads, asserting that the socio-political stability of the emirate depends on a transparent and just administrative process.

Given the sensitive nature of the situation, the petitioners urge Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to take swift and appropriate action regarding their requests, stressing the implications for peace and good governance in the emirate.

The original petition and proof of service have been attached for the Governor’s review, demonstrating the petitioners’ commitment to lawful leadership in Kagara Emirate.

The community eagerly awaits Governor Bago’s response, hopeful for an expedited resolution that upholds justice and fosters inclusive leadership in the Kagara Emirate.
