IHSAN hails Tinubu on health reforms, new initiatives

The Institute of Health Service Administrators of Nigeria (IHSAN) has commended President Bola Tinubu for his ongoing reforms and new initiatives in the health sector aimed at improving the wellbeing of Nigerians.
IHSAN National President, Mr. Eze Okezie Chijioke, gave the commendation at the institute’s 2025 Second Run National Professional Development Workshop, tagged “IHSAN Keffi 2025,” held in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The workshop, themed “The Role of Health Service Administrators in Managing Ethical Issues and Legal Compliance in Hospitals,” brought together healthcare administrators from various hospitals across the country to discuss key issues in healthcare management.
Chijioke said Tinubu deserved commendation for initiating several health policies and programmes across the country.
He said the designation of hospitals for cancer treatment at subsidized rates and the establishment of more tertiary hospitals were steps that would enhance access to specialist healthcare services nationwide.
The IHSAN president urged participants to maximize the knowledge gained from the workshop for the overall development of the health sector.
“Return to your respective hospitals as positive
change agents and ambassadors of IHSAN,” he charged the participants.
He reiterated the institute’s commitment to strengthening healthcare management and administration in Nigeria.
“We remain dedicated to
promoting excellence and ethical standards in
healthcare service delivery, and this workshop is a testament to that commitment,” he said.
In their goodwill messages, representatives of the Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa, and the Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, urged participants to apply the knowledge gained for improved healthcare services.
Declaring the event open, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom, represented by the Director of Human Resources Management, Tetshoma Dafeta, commended IHSAN for organizing the workshop.
She described the theme as timely and called on health service administrators to be ethical leaders who prioritize compliance and integrity to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
In his keynote address, the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu, highlighted the crucial role of health service administrators in managing ethical challenges and ensuring legal compliance in hospitals.
The workshop also featured the presentation of three technical papers: “Managing Ethical Dilemmas in Healthcare Practice” by Dr. Ishaku Joseph Shirimia; “Health Law and Ethics: Understanding the Dynamics” by Dr. Shigaba Danjuma; and “The Role of Health Service Administrators in Compliance and Risk Management” by Dr. Omadachi Okolobia.
A total of 144 new members were inducted into the institute during the event. They took the oath of allegiance administered by IHSAN Legal Adviser, Barr. James Odiba, and were formally admitted by the National President.
