Ex-lawmaker commiserates with victims of Essa petrol tanker explosion

By Mohammed Baba

A former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Lavun, Mokwa and Edati Federal Constituency, Hon. Sani Idris Legbo Kutigi, has commiserated with the people of Essa village in Katcha Local Government Area over the recent petrol tanker explosion that claimed many lives and left several others critically injured.

Legbo Kutigi also sympathised with the bereaved families, the Bida Emirate Council and Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago over what he described as a painful and unfortunate tragedy.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the souls of the departed eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdausi and to give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The former lawmaker also prayed for the speedy recovery of all those who sustained various degrees of injuries during the unfortunate incident.

Legbo Kutigi appealed to residents to always stay away from the scene of petrol tanker accidents to avoid preventable deaths, stressing that “life has no duplicate, and people should run away from untimely death.”

He further called on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, reconstruct the Bida–Lapai–Lambata highway, which he described as a “death trap.”

According to him, the deplorable condition of the road has made it extremely difficult for motorists to travel, sometimes forcing them to spend up to three days between Bida and Lambata.

Legbo Kutigi expressed hope that urgent intervention on the highway would help avert similar tragedies and ease the suffering of road users.
