Gov. Idris launches disbursement of N70m to 700 Kebbi youths
The Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has flagged-off disbursement of N70 million to 700 youths drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
Launching the youth empowerment programme at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, the governor said each of the beneficiaries would receive the sum of N100,000 grant.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Umar Abubakar-Tafida, said the beneficiaries were expected to use the grant to establish businesses with a view to becoming self-sufficient and also employers of labour.
According to him, the programme is designed in such a way that both males and females will benefit to give all gender a sense of belonging.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grant to transform their lives and also assist others.
In his speech, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Nura Bala-Fingila commended Gov. Nasir Idris for initiating the programme towards impacting positively on the lives of the youths across the state.
The commissioner, who described the programme as a game changer, also urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the scheme to improve their livelihood.
He stressed the need for the youths and the entire people of Kebbi State to rally round the governor by supporting all policies and programmes of the present administration.
