MD Dr Usman says all allegations are baseless and unfounded

     The medical Director of the federal medical center (FMC)Bida Niger state,Dr Abubakar Usman has described the recent petition on the poor performance of FMC Bida as baseless, unfounded and no iota of truth in it.
    The Director who was responding to the recent petition by some groups of people,”tittled request for the removal of Dr Usman Abubakar as medical Director of FMC Bida” said the petitioners are far from the truth on the functions and activities of the center.
    According to Dr Usman the alleged unprecedented departure of key personel consultant Doctors, poor management, dysfunctional equipments CT scan machines, dialysis and non functional oxygen plants are imaginary tendency to satisfy their selfish ends.
    Dr Abubakar Usman while responding to such allegations said as a public figure he is subject to scrutiny and critisms, and disagree over the mass exodus  of the consultant Doctors from the Hospital.
    ” We have 60 Doctors as consultants to date as against 39 in 2021 when I assumed office as medical Director, The 60 consultants offer specialty services in the Hospital in various specialities and sub- specialties.”
    “Also seven other consultants application are now awaiting waiver for recruitment in 2025, there is also an increase in the number of other professional  cadres,like Nurses, Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Laboratory scientist in the last three years.”
    On the alleged neglect of key medical equipments by the petition,Dr Usman explained that they are far from the truth,” the hospital has six functional dialysis machines and additional New one is to be installed soon.
    The medical Director further disclosed that plan is under way to procure a new CT scan machine in 2024  appropriation bill  with a five years maintenance contract, adding that the petition claims non- functional of Oxygen plants in the hospital is unfounded.
    According to him”the Oxygen plants was procured and installed for use on 28 of August,2021, while the one donated by the federal ministry of health and social welfare was installed on the 9th of November,2022.
  ” I will like to inform you that since the installation of the first plant,the hospital has been the major supplier of Oxygen to the entire state and has not procured Oxygen from any vendor,the second Oxygen plant sited at IBB hospital supplies to MINNA General hospital,Jumai Babangida maternal and Neonatal hospital MINNA and other private hospitals in the state”.
  The Medical Director was categorically clear that the only challenge facing the hospital is of inadequate bed spacing and express his commitment to upholding the highest standard of medical excellence, appreciates the support of the staff in the hospital.
