 LG autonomy: FG should provide enough funds for local government councils.

 The Lavun  youth congress (LYC) in Niger state has called on the federal government to provide more fund to local government areas across the state inorde to speed up development at the grassroots leve.
    The youth organization whose theme for this year at a forum centered specifically on the Local government autonomy had its meeting  at the Bologi events centre Bida where concerns were raised on  the successful  implementation of the autonomy at the local government levels due to corruption.
    At the forum which is the fifth in its series the L Y C observed that some local government Counci will be operating in deficit as some would find it difficult to pay salaries, while some express optimism that the autonomy will reduce the rural Urban drift and restore even development in rural communities.
    Delivering his speech at the forum the  Chief host who is also the former  Lavun local government Chairman, Alh Abubakar Dauda Kutigi, share his experience during his tenure and said even though they were  receiving direct allocation from the federation account the fund was not enough to pay  salaries.
    He further explained that during that period  the government have to source for additional funds from other local governments to argument what  is received from the federation account.
 Accordingly he said the present government under the leadership of president Ahmed Bola Tinubu should be more proactive to address the inadequacies of funds in some local government councils in the country to ensure their self sustainability.
    In his address the secretary of the Lavun youth congress, Mohammed Musa Ma -Ali said the Lavun youth Congress L Y C is a socio-economic and political organization Championing the unification and peaceful co-existence of the youths of Lavun local government irrespective of religion or political inclination.
   Also at the occasion the Chairman Lavun youth congress, Mohamed Abdullahi reinterated the commitment of the LYC which is peace, unity and development to improved governance and we’ll being of our Local government.
  Earlier the Chairman of the occasion the Zonal Manager News agency of Nigeria ( NAN) who is also danmasani Bussu,Alh Mohammed Baba Busu said the importance of the forum cannot be over emphasised as it promotes ideas that will entrench development and good governance in rural communities.
