Gov. Idris donates N30m to Kauran Gwandu Model Primary School Old Boys

 

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has donated N30m to the Kauran Gwandu Model Primary school Old boys Association.

He disclosed this on Wednesday when the old boys association of the school organised an event in honour of the Governor.

Speaking at the event, which was held at the premises of the school, the governor commended the leadership of the old boys association for their outstanding support towards his administration.

“I am not going to forget you people, and I want you people to support APC administration both at the top and down” he added

The Governor, who further stated that his administration has constructed 333 new schools and renovated 1,816 schools across the state in less than two years.

The governor, an alumnus of the school, assured that his administration would never toy with anything that would improve the state’s standard of education.

Gov. Idris said the state government was providing education to its citizens free towards ensuring that every child was educated.

He assured that citizens of Kebbi State studying in different tertiary institutions across Nigeria and abroad were being taken care of through scholarships, both foreign and local.

In order to boost the morale of students studying in boarding schools across the state, the governor said, his administration had increased school feeding from N175 million to N300 million.

Speaking on agriculture, Gov. Idris recalled that 500 trailers of fertilisers were procured last year and distributed free to farmers to further boost their morale.

He added that 530 trailers of foodstuff were also procured and distributed free to the general public to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

The governor promised that as long as he remained the governor of the state, farmers would continue to enjoy free fertilisers for use in their respective farmlands.

Gov. Idris also assured pilgrims that his administration would continue to pay the money for Hadaya (sacrificial ram) during Hajj in addition to making sure that intending pilgrims from Kebbi State were served with sufficient balanced diet meal during the holy religious rites.

In his speech, the former Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State, Comrade Umar Halidu-Alhassan, described the hosting of the governor as a great achievement of the school.

While thanking the governor for his active support to the school, the former NLC chairman noted with satisfaction that about 70 per cent of the existing structures in the school were either constructed by Kauran Gwandu or constructed through his influence.

A graduate of 1979 and one of the governor’s classmates, Hajiya Halima Udu appealed to the governor to gave the set an appointment so that they could come together and refresh their memories.
