District head of tegina accused of taking over farm land belonging to chief imam

UTHMAN BABA-SIRJDEEN,MINNA.

The District head of Tegina,in Rafi Local government of Kagara Emirate, Garba Bako has been accused of taken over farmland belonging to the Chief Imam of Pagungari Alhaji Umar Danladi Pangu.

The accusation was made by the Chief Imam while speaking with Journalists in Minna Tuesday, explaining that the farmland measuring over 70.5 hectares located in Tegina was inherited from his father adding that the District head has taken ownership of the farmland.

He claimed that the farmland belong to him and siblings which they both inherited from their late father some years back.

According to the Chief Imam,the District head has been tormenting , threatening,and harassing him and his siblings over their farmland which they have been farming on it over the years.

He stated that the the District head even allocated part of the farmland measuring about 25 hectares of the land to some farmers without his consent when he demanded to know who gave them the land the trespassers threatened to deal with him and his siblings with the warning that “if he dare come to the farmland he will regret his life”.

To avoid any breach of peace and security in the community, he approached the Sharia Court in Tegina, and he obtained judgement against the trespassers and they were Convicted by the court to Seven months imprisonment with N50,000 fine option.

He disclosed that the District head, summoned him to his Palace after the trespassers and eight other people earlier arraigned before the Shariah Court in Tegina paid their fines, were also summoned by the District head, he told him that if he enter that farmland he will order for his arrest .

” The District head told me threatened me that he will regret what will happen to if im seen near the farmland.

” He insulted me in the presence of the same trespassers and my siblings. Infact, he even told me that he has taken possession of the farmland and I should go back to the same court nothing will happen” the Chief Imam alleged.

Speaking further, Alhaji Umar Danladi Pangungari revealed that the late District head of Tegina Alhaji Saifudeen Bako was in the full picture of the issue Concerning his ownership of the farmland some year back.

The late District head, according to the Chief Imam along with the Late Emir of Kagara Alhaji Salihu Tanko were almost about resolving the issue in his favour before their demise.

” The District head inherited the matter from his Predecessor and the current Emir of Kagara Alhaji Ahmed Garba. Could you believe that the District head refused to bring the matter to his no one. Oktice.

” Only for him to take over the Farmland from me and my siblings and shared 25.5 hectres of the Farmland to some people that are now farming on our farmland. I want you people ,((newsmen) to use your God given Professional responsilities to collect our Farmland for me” he appealed .

In a swift reaction to accusation as raised by the Chief Imam, the District head of Tegina, Garba Bako, denied the allegations made against him by the Chief Imam.

He said the Farmland belong to Niger state government and also the matter is already in court which he would not comment on it.
