NIGER SSG BAGS FELLOWSHIP OF INSTITUTE OF POLICY MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT (IPMD)…HARPS ON THE NEW NIGER AGENDA OF FARMER GOVERNOR MOHAMMED UMARU BAGO

In a landmark event held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, the Institute of Policy Management Development (IPMD) conferred the prestigious Fellow of the Institute on the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman in recognition of his outstanding contributions to policy development and public service excellence.

The conferment took place during the Induction Ceremony for Fellows and Members of the Institute, an annual event organized to recognize individuals who have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment to effective policy management in Nigeria.

Representing the Secretary to the State Government at the occasion, Dr. Umar Mohammed Dyadya, Speech Writer to the Farmer Governor who conveyed the appreciation and honour of the SSG for the recognition.

In his remarks to the gathering, Dr. Dyadya highlighted the transformative policies and development strides being implemented by the administration of His Excellency, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, particularly in the key sectors of Agriculture, Health, Education and Investment among several other sectors.

Dr. Dyadya noted that the Bago-led administration has launched large-scale mechanized farming initiatives to boost food production, support rural livelihoods, and promote food security, stressing that these positioned Niger State as a key player in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.

The Speech Writer further revealed under Governor Bago’s leadership, the State has invested heavily in the establishment , renovation and equipping of healthcare facilities, including rural health centers and General Hospitals. The recruitment and training of healthcare personnel have also been prioritized to ensure effective service delivery.

He explained that the State Government has initiated reforms aimed at improving the quality of education through teacher training, infrastructure development, and curriculum enhancement. Access to education is being expanded with targeted interventions for girl-child education and vulnerable communities.

According to Dyadya “Niger State has adopted investor-friendly policies and launched a state-wide drive to attract local and international investors. The administration’s focus on creating an enabling environment is evident in the establishment of development corridors and business clusters across key sectors”.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

The Speech Writer to the Farmer Governor described the Fellowship Award as both an honor and a call to greater service in the promotion of effective governance and policy leadership in Nigeria.

In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Occasion, Prof. Sunday Nwaite delivered glowing commendations for the New Niger Agenda of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, describing it as an exemplary model of evidence-based policy management and transformational governance that other Nigerian States should emulate.

Professor Nwaite praised the comprehensive nature of Farmer Governor Bago’s New Niger Agenda, particularly highlighting the innovative approach to agricultural development that has positioned the State as Nigeria’s emerging food basket.

The Chairman emphasized that the Niger State model represents exactly the kind of strategic policy implementation that IPMD Fellows should champion in their respective spheres of influence.

“The New Niger Agenda under Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago exemplifies the transformational leadership we need across Africa,” Professor Nwaite declared.

According to the Chairman, “Here we see a leader who has moved beyond rhetoric to implement concrete and measurable policies that are delivering tangible results for his people.”

He then noted the critical importance of the Institute of Policy Management Development in shaping the future of governance across the African continent.

Prof. Nwaite pointed out that IPMD fellowship is a symbol of excellence in public administration and policy development, stressing that the he Institute continues to promote professionalism, ethical standards, and capacity building among policymakers and public servants nationwide.

The Chairman also commended the leadership of IPMD for maintaining high standards while expanding access to professional development opportunities across Africa. He noted that the Institute’s growth reflects the increasing recognition of policy management as a specialized profession requiring formal training and certification.

Through its comprehensive certification programmes, training initiatives, and networking opportunities, IPMD continues to build capacity for effective governance.
