NIGER SSG INAUGURATES 17-MEMBER AUDA-NEPAD STAKEHOLDERS COMMITTEE TO TACKLE
POVERTY AND BOOST REGIONAL INTEGRATION

In a significant move to address poverty and harness the benefits of globalization, the Niger State Government has inaugurated a 17-member AUDA-NEPAD Stakeholders Committee.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Conference Hall of SSG’s Office was presided over by Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG) who emphasized the committee’s critical role in advancing sustainable development and economic integration in the State.

The newly formed committee is tasked with providing strategic support to the AUDA-NEPAD State Office in key areas, including manpower development, mechanization, funding for vulnerable groups, capital flow initiatives and overcoming implementation challenges. The initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) to foster regional cooperation, eradicate poverty and promote inclusive growth.

Alhaji Usman underscored the importance of the committee in driving Niger State’s developmental agenda.

According to the SSG, “The inauguration of this committee marks a pivotal step in our efforts to combat widespread poverty and integrate our State into the global economy. AUDA-NEPAD provides a robust framework for sustainable development and this committee will serve as the engine room for implementing impactful programmes that uplift our people”.

He further urged members to leverage their expertise in mobilizing resources, fostering partnerships and implementing policies that align with AUDA-NEPAD’s mandate.

The SSG stressed the need for innovation in agriculture, infrastructure and human capital development to ensure tangible outcomes for Niger State’s citizens.

The 17-member committee comprises experts from various sectors, including agriculture, finance, social development and technology.

The committee’s inauguration reflects Niger State’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063. Members were charged to act swiftly, collaborate with stakeholders and ensure transparency in delivering their mandate.

Then Director General, Niger State AUDA-NEPAD and Chairman of the Committee, Mohammed Adamu Aliyu pledged the team’s dedication to achieving measurable progress.

The Director General, Niger State AUDA-NEPAD expressed optimism that the committee’s work would position the State as a model for regional development and poverty eradication.
