AFCON 2023: SPORTS MINISTER COMMENDS SUPER EAGLES ON VICTORY AGAINST COTE D’IVOIRE

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has commended Senior Men’s National Team of Nigeria, the Super Eagles, following their victory against Cote D’Ivoire yesterday.

Senator Owan Enoh stated that defeating the host nation is a good sign of the team’s exceptional capabilities and
expressed his delight with the team’s improved performance as earlier promised to Nigerians after their first game.

*The victory against Cote D’Ivoire is commendable, and defeating the host nation is a good sign of the team’s exceptional capabilities* *The President and football-loving people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are all rooting for you to stay victorious until the end.* *We all believe in you, It’s in you to win all through. Keep winning through all stages and bring home the trophy. We have done it before, and we can do it again. Let’s do it again!*, he said.

The Minister, who highlighted the collective support of the nation, urged the Super Eagles to continue in the same spirit throughout the competition.

He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome challenges and bring pride to the Nation by clinching the Championship Trophy

As the tournament progresses, Senator John Owan Enoh encouraged the players and coaches to maintain their focus, determination, and team spirit.

The Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire Nigerian sports ecosystem, saying, *It is a win all Nigerians can revel in*

William Troost-Ekong scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, after Africa’s best, Victor Osimhen was hacked down. The Nigerian side will take on Guinea-Bissau in their last group game on Monday, January 22, 2024.
