NGSG TO DELIVER 35.000 HOUSING IN MAJOR TOWNS IN THE STATE

The Niger State Government says housing deficit across major towns in the state would soon be addressed assuring that government will deliver over 35,000 in its housing program .
The Director- General, Niger State Housing Corporation, Alhaji Mohammed Bashar Yakubu (Bashar Harka), disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on the determination of the state to provide affordable homes to all categories of people resident in the state.
According to him, the Mohammad Umaru Bago led administration was willing and remained committed towards delivering quality, affordable and sustainable houses through its Urban Renewal efforts.
The DG noted that plans are also in top gear to work with private developers who have indicated interest to partner with the State Housing Corporation to deliver houses that meet specifications and standard.
He said ” all hands must be on deck to support the administration’s efforts to make houses available and affordable regardless of the economic meltdown in the country.”
Continuing he said” despite the previous administration’s efforts to have build and allocated the Housing Estate in the state to individuals, some of the beneficiaries were yet to occupied allotted houses which were left to decay.”
He pointed out that the government was left with no option than to revoke their allocations.
He further stated, that already a committee has been set up to look in to the situation of the houses with a view of finding out the challenges with a view to provide possible solutions as according to him over six million people are in need houses across the state.
The Director General assured the people of corporation and commitment towards enhancing the developmental strides of the present administration toward implementing the policies and programmes on housing across the three Geo- political zones of the state.
