NBA MINNA BRANCH WANT GOV UMAR BAGO TO ADDRESS WATER SCARCITY

The Chairman Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Minna branch Barrister Mohammed Abdulkadir Waziri has called on the Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to as a matter of urgency address the acute water scarcity in the state capital and its environs
Speaking shortly after the monthly Congress of the branch at the High court complexe Minna, the chairman described the scarcity of water in Minna as worrisome.
He noted with dismay the  number of households that  go out on daily basis in search of water describing the situation as unacceptable.
According to him ” in view of water scarcity in Minna,  some household trekked far distance even at night to search for water and this is not ordinarily supposed to be so owing to the cosmopolitan nature of Minna”
He however applauded Governor Umar Mohammed Bago for carrying out township road since he assumed office  saying road projects boost social economic development.
Speaking on the rising cost of essential commodity especially food stuff Barrister Abdulkadir Waziri called for the introduction of consumer protection Council in the state with a mandate to checkmate the hike in food stuffs in our market and reduced the activities of middlemen in our local  markets”
Speaking further, the NBA Chairman observed that the hike in food stuffs in the market has created a Devastating effect on common man urging the relevant authority to as a matter of  urgency come up with a quick solution.
On the removal of fuel and energy subsidy Abdulkadir Waziri insisted that the removal of the subsidies has created untold hardship on Nigerians  calling on Niger state governor Umar Mohammed Bago to call on the management of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to address the epileptic power supply in Minna and its environs
This he noted will improve the socio economic and commercial activities in the state capital.
Meanwhile a five members electoral committee to conduct election in to various offices of the branch has been Constituted by the Branch chairman
Fielding questions from Journalists the chairman of the Five member of the committee Barrister Mohammed Abubakar El-Surur stated that the committee will soon outline the program and modalities of the election into the various offices to be contested for
At the end of the monthly Congress of the branch, a common room and convenience apartment donated to the branch by the Chief Judge of Niger State Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik was commissioned.
